CU expels 14 students, cancels certificates of one, postpones two

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 19: The authorities of Chittagong University(CU) have expelled 14 students for different terms and postponed certificates of two and cancelled one for their alleged involvement in criminal and militant activities.

Assistant Proctor of the University Niaz Morshed Ripon confirmed the decision of the Discipline Committee of the CU today. The meeting was chaired by Professor Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury, vice chancellor of the University.

Syed Fahim Jafri, Mohammed Hossain Sikdar, HM Hasanuzzaman, Mizanur Rahman Fakir and Sabbir Hossain have been expelled for one year and Imran Nazir, Ziaul Huq Majumder, Dipayan Dev, Sabbirul Islam, Arnab Barua, Jubair Ahmed and Mamunur Rashid expelled for six months.

Certificates of Jamshedul Karim and Anwar Hossain have been postponed and certificate of Moin Newaj cancelled, the proctor said adding that another student Asfar Hossain has been expelled temporarily.
