Customs seize 4kg gold at Ctg airport

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 15: The customs intelligence officials seized roughly four kilograms of gold bars at Chattogram airport early Wednesday.

A Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department (CIID) team recovered the precious metal from inside a bag left without any claimant.

Acting on a tip-off, the Shah Amanat International Airport unit of the CIID searched Biman Bangladesh flight number BG 148.

The plane arrived from Dubai of the United Arab Emirates and landed at the airport at 7:55 am.

The team got a bag left unclaimed and found inside 32 pieces of gold bars weighing 3.730 kg.

Officials estimated the value of the gold at Tk 16 million.

Abu Hanif Md Abdul Ahad, assistant director of the airport unit of the CIID, led the drive following the arrival of the plane.
