Awami League Presidium Member Mohammed Nasim on Saturday requested the Health Minister, mayors of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) to destroy the breeding grounds of mosquitoes to control the dengue outbreak, reports BSS.
"This is no time for seminars and meetings…I want to ask the mayors to destroy the breeding grounds of dengue virus-borne Aedes mosquitoes, as this year the number of patients is surprisingly high," he said.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a programme to introduce the Agrani Bank Officers' Association at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).
The president of the association, Nazmul Huda, presided over the programme, while Chairman of the bank Dr Zahid Bakht and Managing Director Mohammad Shams-ul Islam were present, among others.
Stressing the importance of a united effort, Nasim, also the spokesperson of the 14-party alliance said, "We have to identify and eliminate the breeding grounds of the mosquito and work towards that end."
Soon the country would be dengue free as the government was working relentlessly to eradicate it, he said.
