DNCC spots Aedes larvae in 298 houses, establishments

Mobile court fines four organisations

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) spotted Aedes larvae in 298 houses and establishments on Monday, the second day of its combing operation to eliminate the dengue-carrying mosquitoes, while two mobile courts fined four organisations.

Besides, DNCC teams also found that 5,013 more houses and establishments have favourable condition for the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes or stagnant water.

The DNCC started the 10-day combing operation on Sunday in the wake of a massive dengue outbreak.

DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam visited the city's Mohammadpur area to monitor the combing operation.

The DNCC teams inspected 10,720 houses and establishments in all 36 wards of the DNCC area on the day.

As part of the campaign titled 'Ward-wise Aedes mosquito breeding source destruction and cleanliness campaign', a team of DNCC led by Executive Magistrate Sazid Anwar also conducted a mobile court in Gulshan area. The mobile court fined two organisations Tk 0.35 million after it detected Aedes larvae in their establishments.

Another mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Mir Nahid Ahsan also fined two organisations Tk 0.2 million in Gulshan and Shazadpur areas.
