DSCC suspends two engrs over irregularities

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) temporarily suspended two of its engineers and blacklisted one contractor on Wednesday over their alleged irregularities in the 'Newly Connected Four Union Development Project'.

DSCC also filed departmental case against the engineers and issued showcause notice against the supervising official (project director) and consultant of the project involving Tk 7.34 billion.

The suspended officials are Assistant Engineer Khalilur Rahman and Deputy Assistant Engineer Fariduzzaman. The name of the blacklisted contractor is GK Enterprise.

The office order came following media reports and video documentary viral in social media on the drain construction at Mohammadbagh under Ward 59 of DSCC. The contractor used soil instead of cement for plastering.

DSCC has also sent a letter requesting local government engineering department (LGED) and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) to submit a probe report against the contractor on the quality of work, used materials and measurement.
