Govt sends 2.7m blankets for cold-hit people

CHANDPUR, Jan 06 (BSS): Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Bir Bikram, said today as many as 2.7 million pieces of blankets have been sent for cold-hit people across the country.

The minister said this while he was distributing blankets among cold-hit poor people in Matlab Uttar and Matlab Dakshin upazilas of the district. Some 14,000 pieces of blankets were distributed in the two upazilas.

The minister said among the 2.7 million blankets, 1.8 million were allotted from the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund. He requested the lawmakers to distribute all blankets among the cold-hit poor people quickly.
