Indian Navy chief calls on President

Chief of the Naval Staff of Indian Navy Admiral Sunil Lanba called on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Monday, reports UNB.

During the meeting, Abdul Hamid said the relationship between Bangladesh and India is very wonderful and this visit will play a vital role in developing the bonding between the two countries, especially, for the Navy.

The president also stressed the need for joint research programme for ensuring the best utility of the prospect of the blue economy.

Mentioning the bonding between two countries closer and friendlier than ever before, Indian Navy chief said both Bangladesh and Indian Navy are getting benefitted through the exchange of the experience and training.

"Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) will play a vital role in ensuring the security and boosting the economy," Admiral Sunil Lanba added.

Besides, Chiefs of Navies of the two countries will inaugurate the first-ever Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) by the Bangladesh and Indian Navies.

The patrol will be conducted in Chattogram on June 27.

Two Indian Navy ships and Air craft are scheduled to reach Chattogram on Monday to participate in Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT).

Earlier on the day, the Indian Navy chief paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Naval Staff of Bangladesh Navy Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed after placing wreath to the Shikha Chirantan and paying tribute to the armed forces members who sacrificed their lives in 1971.
