COX'S BAZAR, Mar 28: The carcass of a rare and endangered species of shark has been seen in the sea shore of Teknaf.
According to sources, local people and fishermen came to see this large size dead shark on Tuesday.
Some fishermen took away the dead shark off the beach by a rickshaw van.
Witnesses said the dead fish was found on the south Shilkhali beach of Baharchora union under Teknaf upazila. They said that weight of the shark might be more than four maunds.
When contacted, fisheries expert and former district fisheries officer of Cox's Bazar M Kabir Ahmed said the shark which was found on Teknaf beach was of a rare and endangered species.
"This species of shark is becoming extinct and it is very rare. Killing of this type of animal is prohibited in the globe", he said.
