Magistrates urged to ensure rule of law

CHITTAGONG, July 6: Executive magistrates in Chittagong have been urged to conduct all-out drives against food adulteration, environment polluters and public nuisance creators for ensuring peace and justice in the society.

In a day-long training programme Saturday Muhammad Munir Chowdhury, managing director of Milk Vita Ltd, and former magistrate of Chittagong, urged the magistrates to be fearless fighters against crimes and bring the powerful and influential quarters doing harm to the society to book. He was addressing as chief guest.

Chittagong district administration organised the day-long training programme at Chittagong Circuit House.

"Mobile court is the strong weapon to mitigate sufferings of the people instantly," he said.

Forty-five executive magistrates including AC (assistant commissioners-land0, Upazila Nirbahi Officers and ADCs (additional deputy commissioners) participated in the training on "Mobile Court for Public Interest".

Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mesbah Uddin inaugurated the programme. Later the officers took a vow to act neutrally and honestly in conducting mobile courts and discharging other official duties.
