Man commits suicide after killing wife

CHANDPUR, July 14 (UNB): A man is said to have committed suicide after stabbing his wife to death during a dispute at Gulisha village under Sadar upazila of Chandpur on Sunday.

The couple were identified as Khorshed Alam Patwary (60) of Balia union of Sadar upazila and his wife Baby Begum (45) of Faridganj upazila.

Baby's brother Mofizul Islam said on information from Chandpur Govt General Hospital about Khorshed's death, they went to the couple's home to learn more, only to find it locked from outside. "We saw Baby's body lying in a pool of blood inside the house," he added.

Chandpur Model thana officer-in-charge Md Nasim Uddin said on information, police recovered Baby's body from the house and took Khorshed's body from Chandpur Govt General Hospital to the thana.

Khorshed jumped under a Chandpur-Chattogram bound train in Mission Road area of the town. A hammer and screw driver were found from the spot, he added.

The whole incident is under investigation, the OC added.

SI Abdur Rob said he primarily suspects the incident occurred over a marital dispute. There was no-one else in the house after their three daughters were married off.
