Man gets life in prison over woman's miscarriage

KISHOREGANJ, Mar 18 (UNB): A court here on Monday sentenced a man to life imprisonment and two people to six months in prison over the miscarriage of a woman following torture on her.

The lifer is Kalam of Gaital village in Kishoreganj municipality while those got six months are Abdul Malek and Siddique.

The court also fined the lifer Tk 20,000 and in case of failure to pay the penalty, he will have to serve six months more in jail.

According to the prosecution, the convicts beat Shamima Begum, pregnant wife of Abdul Quddus of Gaital on October 12, 2008, whereby she suffered a miscarriage.
