Man kills son in Sherpur

Sherpur, Aug 24 (UNB): A young man was hacked to death by his father during an altercation at Dhatiapara village in Sadar upazila on Saturday morning, police said.

The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 25, son of Moslem Uddin.

Moslem slashed Shafiqul with a sharp weapon during an argument around 9am, said Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Sadar Police Station. "Shafiqul died on the spot."

The man is currently on the run. Police recovered the body and sent it to the Zila Hospital for autopsy.
