Police arrest three Shibir men with explosives in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 23 (UNB): Police in a drive arrested three activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir with explosives from Halishahar area in the city on Saturday night.

The arrestees are Nazim Uddin Chowdhury alias Boma Nazim (38), an expert in bomb making, Abul Bashar alias Sabuj (32) and Abdul Hannan (27).

Tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested them, SM Mostain Hossain, deputy commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, told reporters at a press briefing on Sunday.

During primary interrogation, the arrestees said they as per the directives of former president of Chouddagram unit Chhatra Shibir Abu Syed they collected 20 kg of gunpowder and bomb making materials in a bid to carry out sabotage on the election day, said Mostain Hossain.
