CHATTOGRAM, May 19: Arrested Abul Hossain, the prime accused in the case for killing two Tripura teenagers, has confessed he along with his accomplices killed the duo at Mohadevpur in Sitakunda municipality area of the district on Friday.
Police arrested Abul Hossain (25) from his village of Mohadevpur following a case file by father of one of the murdered teenagers Sumon Tripura accusing Hossain and his accomplices with the police station.
Earlier on Friday afternoon, the police recovered the bodies of Sukolpi Tripura (16) and her close neighbour Chhabi Rani Tripura (13) from the house of Sumon Tripura, father of Chhabi in Tripurapara area of Jungle Mohadevpur village of the upazila.
Assistant Police Super (Sitakunda circle) Shampa Rani Saha said Abul Hossain on Saturday confessed to the police that he had killed the Tripura girls with the help of his accomplices on Friday.
He told the police that he had killed Sukolpi Tripura in revenge for refusing his love proposal.
As Chhabi Rani Tripura was with her (Sukolpi ) and witnessed the whole incident, he murdered her (Chhabi) also.
After killing the victims through strangulation, they hanged the bodies with a beam after pouring poison into mouths, Hossain admitted.
The police officer said Abul Hossain had pursued a romantic relation with Sukolpi but she refused the offer.
As Hossain continued vexing her with his love proposal and threatened her, local Tripuara people arranged a meeting three weeks ago at the village where he was warned against annoying Sukolpi.
On Friday, the accused entered the house of the two teenagers in absence of their parents and killed them.
Informed by neighbours, the police recovered the bodies and sent those to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
