'Robber' dies in Khulna 'gunfight'

KHULNA, Mar 09 (UNB): A suspected robber was killed in a 'gunfight' with police at Boromath of Daulatpur Upazila on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Mirazul Islam Miraz, son of Mujibur Rahman, a resident of Khanjahan Ali area and an accused in 10 cases.

Mostak Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station, said police arrested Miraz from Senpara at around 09:00 pm.

After gleaning information in a primary interrogation, a team of police conducted a drive at around 12:00 am to recover looted valuables.

When the team reached the spot, his associates opened fire on police, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight.

Miraz received bullet during the gunfight and died on the spot.

Police recovered one, LG two rounds of bullet, a sharp weapon and 100 Yaba pills from the spot.
