Bangladesh's cricket all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has become a goodwill ambassador of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to encourage the people to stand against graft.

In this regard, Shakib signed a contract with the anti-graft watchdog on Sunday at a function held at the ACC headquarters in city's Segunbagicha. ACC chairman Iqbal Mahmood, secretary Dr Shamsul Arefin and director general (prevention) Zafar Iqbal were present on the occasion.

The commission made Shakib as its goodwill ambassador in a bid to create public awareness against corruption and deliver anti-graft messages, thoughts and ideology in the society.

Terming Shakib the pride of the nation and an inspiration to the country's youths, the ACC chief said he (Shakib) has become the best all-rounder in the world utilizing his talent, dedication and ingenuous efforts.

"Youths and adolescents of the country can become the world's best in their respective fields taking inspiration from Shakib," he added.

Citing corruption as the biggest problem in Bangladesh, he said, "The commission will put all its strength against graft menace as the bright future of the next generations can't be confined to some corrupt individuals."

Youths are ultimate source of power of any country, Mr Mahmood said, adding that if youths like Shakib stand against corruption, no one will dare to commit such act.
