Thrust on skills of PDs in public procurement

July 09, 2019 00:00:00

Project directors (PDs) in the public sector need to have clear knowledge of the issues of public procurement, said implementation monitoring and evaluation division (IMED) secretary Abul Mansur Md Faizullah.

He highlighted the importance of having proper knowledge of public procurement, according to a press release.

Mr Faizullah said this as the chief guest at a certificate handover ceremony of a 'training of trainers (ToT)' course for national procurement trainers at a city hotel on Sunday.

He said, "In project implementation, we often stumble over procurement issues. Therefore, project directors need some orientation in public procurement."

The central procurement technical unit (CPTU) of IMED and ITCILO, a consultant engaged by CPTU in capacity development and professionalisation under digitising implementation monitoring and public procurement project (DIMAPPP), co-hosted the training.

The CPTU has been implementing DIMAPPP since July 01, 2017.

Additional secretary and CPTU director general Md Ali Noor and ITCILO programme director Andreas Klemmer were present as the special guests.

ITCILO team leader Richard Lorenz chaired the concluding session of the four-day ToT course that began July 02.
