Titas snaps 29 illegal gas lines last month

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, a concern of Petrobangla, cut off a total of 29 illegal gas connections-seven industrial, 21 commercial and one captive-in a drive in March this year.

During the drive, the company also disconnected a total of 26,533 illegal gas stoves along with 69.20 kilometers illegal gas pipeline, said a press release from Titas.

Besides, a total of 12 industrial, nine commercial, one CNG and one captive connection were also cut off along with 1,258 legal gas stoves for not paying debts, the release mentioned.

On charge of using illegal lines, executive magistrates in several operations realised Tk 0.4425 million (4 lakh 42.5 thousand) in fine from 34 illegal gas users, the release added.
