He also assured that UNICEF will continue to work with the government of Bangladesh for the overall development of the children of Bangladesh from the grassroots to national level.

The newly-appointed Country Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Bangladesh presented his credentials to Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen.

Welcoming the new country representative, the Foreign Minister expressed deep appreciation for the longstanding cooperation between the government of Bangladesh and UNICEF in the field of education, health and overall development of children which dates back to 1972.

Minister Momen highlighted Bangladesh's stellar performances in achieving all the children-related Millennium Development Goals, including primary enrolment and reducing child and maternal mortality.

He reiterated the government's maximum priority to replicate this performance in achieving SDGs.

Momen further said Bangladesh, being a signatory to Child Right Convention, is committed to ensuring the rights of all children in its endeavour to achieve inclusive development.

The Foreign Minister thanked UNICEF for partnering with the government for ensuring education for all, gender parity in education, reducing the dropout from school, scaling up the social protection, access to safe drinking water and enhancing opportunities for the marginalised children.
