CHATTOGRAM, Oct 09: Ruling Awami League (AL) has put its leaders and activists on alert in the city for two days to resist any possible violence centring the verdict in the August 21 grenade attack case today (Wednesday).

On the other hand, tight security measures have also been taken by the Chittagong Metropolitan Police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to avert any untoward incident over the verdict.

Members of police and RAB will remain deployed in the key points of the city today and tomorrow (Thursday) to maintain security, police said.

General Secretary of the AL city unit and mayor of the Chittagong City Corporation AJM Nasir Uddin said their party activists under the supervision of the local leaders will stand guard in as many as 17 wards of the city from Wednesday morning to Thursday night.
