AL candidate Liton unveils manifesto

RAJSHAHI, July 10 (BSS): Awami League-nominated mayoral candidate AHM Khairuzzaman Liton in Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) polls unveiled election manifesto, promising to generate employment opportunities for one lakh people if he is elected.

He announced a 14-point election manifesto at a press conference at the party's city office here.

In the manifesto, he put emphasis on creating employment and accelerating education and healthcare services to build Rajshahi as a mega city.

He committed to build Rajshahi as a prosperous, modern and developed city enriching it with peace, harmony, education, culture and make it free from unemployment.

Language veterans Mosharraf Hossain Akunji and Abul Hossain, former Vice-chancellors of Rajshahi University (RU) Professor Saidur Rahman Khan and Professor Abdul Khaleque, RU teacher Professor Golam Sabbir Sattar Tapu and Awami League city unit secretary Dablu Sarker were present at the press conference.

Liton pledged to expedite industrialisation in the city and on its outskirts saying implementation works of Bangabandhu Hi-tech Park here is progressing fast and employment scopes of more than 14,000 youths both male and female will be created after its successful completion.

"We have plans of setting up a five-star hotel, cricket venue, agricultural university and heart foundation in the city," he said while reading out the written paper of the manifesto.
