Ariful takes charge as SCC mayor

SYLHET, Oct 08 (UNB): Ariful Haque Chowdhury took charge of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) mayor on Monday for the second consecutive term.

SCC Secretary Md Badrul Haque handed over the charge to him around 4 pm following a milad and doa mahfil at the Nagar Bhaban.

Thanking all for electing him for the second term, Ariful said, "As the mayor, I along with the political leaders will work for the development of the city. We'll work for building a livable, beautiful and clean city."

Ariful who was elected SCC mayor in the election held on August 11 took the oath of office on September 5 and left for London on September 8. He returned home on September 7.
