BCL leader lands in jail on surrender

CHATTOGRAM, June 4: A court here today sent a former student leader to jail rejecting his bail prayer after his surrender to the court in an extortion case filed by a college principal.

Nurul Azim Rony, former general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League Chattogran City unit surrendered to the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Osman Gani today.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) of Chattogram Nirmalendu Bikash Chakraborty said Rony prayed for bail extension but the court rejected it and sent him to jail.

Principal of Chattogram Science College Zahed Khan filed a case against Rony on charges of beating and extortion with the Chawkbazar police station under CMP.

Rony was on bail for four weeks in the case and on completion of the bail term he surrendered to the court.
