BGB working with neighbours to check cross-border crimes, says DG

BENAPOLE July 02 (UNB): Director General (DG) of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Maj Gen Shafeenul Islam said on Monday they are working in coordination with the border forces of India and Myanmar to check cross-border crimes, including smuggling.

"We've good relations with the border forces of our neighbouring countries-- India and Myanmar. We're working in a coordinated way to check all types of cross-border crimes, including smuggling," he said.

The BGB chief came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after visiting 'Border Surveillance and Response System' set up at Putkhali border point here.

Shafeenul Islam said they have successfully established a Crime Free Zone at Putkhali in cooperation with Indian Border Security Force (BSF).
