Biswajit murder convict lands in jail upon surrender

A tribunal here on Monday sent former Bangladesh Chhatra League activist Tarique Bin Zohor alias Tamal, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in the sensational Biswajit Das murder case, to jail after he surrendered before it, reports UNB.

Judge Abdur Rahman Sardar of Dhaka's Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 passed the order after fugitive Tamal turned up before the court .

On December 18, 2013, the same tribunal sentenced eight BCL activists to death and 13 others, including Tamal, to life tern imprisonment in the Biswajit Das killing case.

On December 9, 2012, tailoring shop employee Biswajit was chopped to death by some BCL activists in Old Dhaka during the BNP-led Alliance's blockade programme.
