July 11, 2018 00:00:00

BNP senior leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Tuesday said their party has joined the city polls to expose further the government's 'nasty act of vote rigging', reports UNB.

"We're there in the city polls to unveil again the government's ugly, undemocratic face before the nation and friendly countries," he said.

The BNP leader came up with the remarks while speaking at a discussion arranged by Nagorik Odhikar Andolon Forum at the Jatiya Press Club.

Mosharraf, a BNP standing committee member, said though the government defeated BNP candidates in Khulna and Gazipur city polls through vote frauds, its real face has got uncovered before people.

Even, he said, diplomats of some friendly countries openly spoke against vote frauds in Khulna and Gazipur city corporation polls.

The BNP leader said the election manipulation by the government would not have exposed had BNP not joined the city polls.

He, however, said they will not join the national election without the release of Khaleda Zia from jail and installation of the election-time non-party government.
