Candidates can file their nomination papers online to take part in the 11th national election as the Election Commission (EC) is likely to declare the schedule for the polls any day after October 30, report agencies.

"We have taken all necessary preparations to hold the election. We have scrutinised every aspect in today (Monday)'s meeting. We have already sent voter lists in the form of CD to all our regional offices. They have been asked to inform the EC by October 30, if they find any mistakes in the lists," EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said.

The EC secretary made the comments after the commission's meeting headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Khan Md Nurul Huda.

"The EC has finished the work of demarcation of 300 parliamentary seats. We have finalised 40,199 polling booths and the concerned returning officers will publish the final list of polling centres after the declaration of election schedule," Ahmed added.

The EC secretary further said Tk 7.0 billion has been allocated for holding the next general election, adding, the EC already approved the sector-based expenditure.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) will hold a meeting with the field-level officials as the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) election is nearing.

The EC has called the meeting with regional election officials, senior district election officials and district election officials, said EC Additional Secretary Mokhlesur Rahman.

The election countdown begins on October 30 and the EC says it is preparing to announce the election schedule soon afterwards.

The meeting headed by the EC secretary will take place today (Tuesday), Mokhlesur Rahman told the news agency.

The full commission will be present at the meeting, he added.

"We'll receive updates from the officials on the necessary preparations at the field level. We'll also provide them with directives on next steps in relation to planning and implementation of the election process."
