Case against Dr Zafrullah, three others over land grabbing

SAVAR, Oct 16 (UNB): A case has been filed against four people, including Gonoshasthya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury ,on charge of occupying a piece of land and demanding extortion.

Mohammad Ali filed the case against Gonoshasthya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, 85, registrar of Gono University Delwar Hossain, 57, Gonoshasthya Kendra director Saiful Islam Sishir, 55, and Aulad Hossain, 48, with Ashulia Police Station on Monday night, said its officer-in-charge Rizaul Haque Dipu.

The accused have long been trying to occupy a 4.24-acare land, owned by Mohammad Ali, at Pathalia union.

They threatened and put pressure on Mohammad Ali in a bid to grab the land, and demanded Tk 1 crore from him as toll, he said.

On Sunday last, he said, the staff and employees of Gonoshasthya Kendra at the behest of Dr Zafarullah vandalised the boundary, signboard and iron gate of the land, he said.
