Country averts disaster for boat's victory, says Menon

Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon said on Wednesday the country managed to avert a big disaster through the victory of 'boat' in the recently-held 11th parliamentary election, reports BSS.

"If the grand alliance had lost, it would have been a big disaster for the country. BNP, under the shadow of brainless Jatiya Oikya Front, would have taken the country many years back," he said.

The minister made the comments while speaking at a meeting with the leaders of Dhaka University Officers' Association at his Minto Road official residence.

"This victory is not the outcome of any stray incident; it is the result of hard work and development carried out by the government in the last 10 years," Menon added.
