DU observes Flag Hoisting Day

Dhaka University (DU) observed National Flag Hoisting Day in a befitting manner on Saturday, through holding a programme at Bot-Tala adjacent to the Arts Faculty building on the campus.

DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the programme by hoisting the national flag at 10am amidst rendition of the national anthem by the Music department students.

Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad presided over the programme conducted by History department Prof Sharmin Jahan Chowdhury.

Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin, president of Dhaka University Teachers' Association (DUTA) Prof Dr ASM Makdud Kamal, general secretary Prof Shibli Rubayatul Islam, and hall provosts, senior teachers, students, officials and employees of the university attended it.

VC Akhtaruzzaman, as the chief guest, recalling the memories of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, four national leaders and martyrs of the Liberation War, said, "As the month of independence, March carries importance and it has become more significant for the 7th March historic speech of Bangabandhu."

Dr Akhtaruzzaman hoped those who will be elected in the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) elections will lead the nation in the future through their moral values like in the past being imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War.

The event ended with a musical soiree with renowned artiste Anup Bhattacharya performing.
