DU students for cancelling affiliation of 07 colleges

DU Correspondent | April 30, 2019 00:00:00

The students of Dhaka University (DU) at a protest rally on the campus on Monday demanded cancellation of the affiliation of its seven colleges.

The protest rally was held in front of Raju Sculpture adjacent to the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC).

After the protest rally, they marched towards the Vice-Chancellor's (VC) office and gave a memorandum to VC Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman in this regard.

Convener of the demonstration, Ahmed Munir Tayif said, "We are protesting against the wrong decision of the administration. When the administration can't fulfil DU students' demand properly, they are taking an extra responsibility beyond their capacity. We want the cancellation of affiliation of colleges from 2019-2020 academic session".

Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) leaders and Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders expressed solidarity with the students.

On the issue, DUCSU vice-president (VP) Nurul Huq Nur said, "For the affiliation, both DU and the students of seven colleges are suffering much. The seven colleges must run properly under National University like before."

VC Akhtaruzzaman said, "I have received a memorandum from the students and we have already found out some effective solutions to the problem. Seven colleges will run independently as like as other colleges."
