EC starts probe into irregularities

KHULNA, May 22 (BSS): A probe committee of the Election Commission (EC) here on Tuesday started investigation to find out the cause of postponement of voting in three centres of Khulna City Corporation.

Returning Officer Md Younus Ali cancelled votes of the three centres during the polls of KCC on May 15 due to alleged irregularities.

Headed by joint secretary of EC Khondokar Mizanur Rahman, two other members of the committee are deputy secretary Md Farhad Hossain and senior assistant secretary Md Shah Alam.

According to EC office, the probe committee reached Khulna on Tuesday on a two-day visit to probe irregularities and cause of postponement of votes in the three centres.
