Ershad to take JP’s election decisions solely

Jatiya Party (JP) presidium members on Sunday 'unanimously' empowered its Chairman HM Ershad to take any unilateral decisions regarding the next general election, reports UNB.

"A joint meeting of Jatiya Party presidium members and MPs unanimously decided that the sole responsibility will be bestowed upon party Chairman HM Ershad to take all the decisions about the upcoming parliamentary elections," said a party press release.

As per the meeting's decision, it said Ershad will determine whether Jatiya Party will join the polls independently or with any alliance.

Besides, the party chairman's decision about nominating party candidates will be accepted as the final one.

The meeting also decided to take preparations for contesting the election from 300 constituencies, the release added.

Jatiya Party senior co-chairman Raushon Ershad and co-chairman GM Quader, among others, were present.
