HC drops bail plea of suspended DIG Prisons Partha

The High Court (HC) has dropped from its cause-list a bail petition filed by suspended deputy inspector general (prisons) of Sylhet division, Partha Gopal Banik, in a case filed over recovery of Tk 8 million from his residence in the capital.

The HC bench of Justice Shahidul Karim and Justice Md Riaz Uddin Khan passed the order on October 3, 2019, after considering a petition filed by his lawyer, Barrister Sanzid Siddique, to drop the bail petition.

The lawyer said on Sunday that they will submit the petition at another HC bench after the ongoing vacation of the Supreme Court, which will continue till October 12.

On September 30, Partha Gopal Banik filed the petition with the High Court through his lawyer challenging the trial court's order rejecting his bail in the case.
