The High Court (HC) has extended until October 23 the bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case, reports UNB.

An HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order following a petition filed by Khaleda's lawyers, said her counsel Barrister Kaiser Kamal.

The court also adjourned the hearing for today (Tuesday) on the review petition filed by the BNP chief against a lower court verdict sentencing her to five years' imprisonment in the graft case.

On October 11, the HC extended until October 15 the bail of Khaleda Zia in the case.

Meanwhile, a Cumilla court accepted on Monday the bail petition of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a murder case filed over the death of eight people in an arson attack in the district in 2015.

Judge of the District and Sessions Judge's Court KM Shamsul Alam accepted the petition and fixed November 11 for hearing it, said Advocate Kaiyum Haque Rinku, a lawyer of the BNP chief.

Earlier on October 03, Senior Judicial Magistrate Biplab Debnath rejected the bail petition of Khaleda Zia in the murder case.

Eight people were killed and at least 20 others injured in a petrol bomb attack on a bus at Jogmohanpur in Chouddagram upazila during the BNP-led alliance's movement on February

03, 2015.
