HC grants bail to GQ Chy in two cases

The High Court on Sunday granted bail for three months to BNP leader Giasuddin Quader Chowdhury in two separate cases, reports UNB.

A HC bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Md Shohrowardi passed the order following a petition filed by his lawyer Barrister Ruhul Kuddus in the two cases.

Also younger brother of executed war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, Giasuddin Quader Chowdhury is facing one of the cases for threatening Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the other under the Explosive Act.

Barrister Ruhul Kuddus said the HC granted three months' bail to Giasuddin Quader and after the expiry of the bail period he will have to surrender before the lower court.

Earlier on Thursday, a Chittagong Judicial Magistrate Court issued an arrest warrant against the BNP leader in a defamation case filed for making offensive remarks against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
