Home minister meets Hefazat chief Shafi

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 02 (UNB): Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal met with Hefazat-e-Islam Ameer Allama Shah Ahmed Shafi at Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Moinul Islam Madrasa, also known as Hathazari Madrasa on Friday.
The minister paid the courtesy call at the Hefazat chief's office in the madrasa around 3:30 pm.
Before paying a visit to Hathazari Madrasa, the minister visited the graveyard of late lawmaker Nurul Alam at Nanupur in Fatikchhari upazila for offering fateha and later, he went to Nanupur Jamia Islamia Obaidia Madrasa.
After holding a meeting with the Hefazat chief, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told reporters that it was purely a personal visit.
"I have come here to take part in the annual congregation of Nanupur Madrasa to keep a promise."
"Visiting Allama Shafi was a co-incidence and I sought his blessings. He prayed for the country, countrymen and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he added.
Chattogram-15 constituency MP Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin, DIG of Chattogram Police Khondakar Golam Faruk and Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Md Ilias Hossain, were present at the meeting.
