JP's Dolon withdraws nomination paper

RAJSHAHI, July 07 (BSS): Jatiya Party- (JP) nominated candidate Washiur Rahman Dolon on Saturday moved away from the mayoral race in the upcoming Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) mayoral election.

Dolon flanked by his party leaders and workers withdrew his nomination paper from the Returning Officer's Office giving support to Awami League nominated candidate AHM Khairuzzaman Liton in city corporation election.

Earlier, local unit of 14-party alliance extended support to Liton in his mayoral election.

The alliance took the decision at a meeting held at the city unit office of Awami League here.

The meeting decided that all the alliance leaders and workers would work together to make the "boat symbol"" win in the city polls scheduled to be held on July 30.

With this breakthrough, AHM Khairuzzaman Liton (Awami League), Musaddeque Hossain Bulbul (BNP), Habibur Rahman (Bangladesh Jatiya Party), Shafiqul Islam (Islami Shashantra Andalan) and Advocate Murad Murshed (Independent) remain in the mayoral election race.
