Khaleda's bail proves judiciary is independent: Anisul

March 13, 2018 00:00:00

Law Minister Anisul Huq said on Monday the bail of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia proved once again that the government never interferes in the activities of judiciary, reports BSS.

"BNP leaders were telling that Khaleda was not getting bail as the government is interfering in judiciary. Today it has become evident that the judiciary is independent and government does not interfere in the judiciary," he said.

Anisul said these while talking to newsmen right after the High Court granted bail to the BNP chief.

The law minister added that the case, in which the court convicted the BNP leader, was filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) not the government.

"So, it is up to the ACC, whether they will file appeal against the bail order or not. But they can convey the matter to the government through the attorney general. Khaleda Zia has to wait till the certified copy of the bail order reaches the jail, to become free," Anisul said.
