Miscreants stab dead AL leader in M’singh, JL activist in Ctg

An Awami League (AL) leader and a Jubo League (JL) activist were stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants in Mymensingh and Chattogram districts respectively on Friday night, report UNB.

Unknown miscreants stabbed to death a local leader of the ruling party at Moazzempur village in Nandail upazila of Mymensingh.

The deceased was identified as Morshed Ali, 55, president of Moazzempur union unit of Awami League.

Officer-in-charge of Nandail Police Station Kamrul Islam Mia said miscreants had intercepted the rickshaw on which Morshed was returning home from a local market and stabbed him indiscriminately around 10:30 pm, leaving him severely injured. Later, Morshed succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital, said the OC.

Away in Chattogram, a local activist of the youth front of Awami League was stabbed to death by unknown miscreants in Akbar Shah area of the port city. The deceased was identified as Md Masud, activist of Pahartoli no.9 ward unit of Jubo League and son of Abul Bashar of Jorarganj in Mirsharai upazila.

Family members alleged some leaders and activists of the ogranisation had called Masud out of the house on Friday evening and stabbed him mercilessly taking him to the local Jubo League office in Railway Housing Society area around 8:30 pm, leaving him critically injured.
