December 18, 2018 00:00:00

Left Democratic Alliance (LDA), a platform for left-leaning political parties, leader Ruhin Hossain Prince said on Monday suitable environment for electioneering is yet to be created in the country, reports UNB.

After handing over a complaint letter to the Election Commission Secretary Prince, presidium member of Communist Party of Bangladesh, briefed reporters at Nirbachan Bhaban in the city.

He said they complained to the commission about the attacks on their party candidates across the country as well as the fictitious cases filed against them.

"In some places where returning officers are taking proper actions, we're seeing progress. The Commission has agreed with us that if election officials complete their tasks properly, a fair poll can take place," he added.

He also said if the law enforcement agencies don't comply with the EC's directives then it will be the liability of the commission.

"People of Bangladesh are yet to participate in the electioneering of the upcoming election. We have confidence in the commission that they will create a proper election environment," he said.
