No terrorism now as was during BNP regime: Nasim

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said on Monday terrorism and militancy had mushroomed in the country during the BNP-Jamaat regime, report agencies.

The minister made the comments while talking to reporters after visiting the renovation of embankments at Dhekuria under Maizbari union in Kazipur upazila of Sirajganj.

Nasim, also Awami League presidium member, said the people will never respond to the call of BNP to join the movement to free its chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The AL leader said none will be allowed to carry out vandalism and sabotage to kill people in the name of movement.

"There's a reign of militancy, terrorism and corruption during the regime of BNP whereas Sheikh Hasina has turned the country into a role model before the world," he added.

The minister said Khaleda Zia must have to follow legal procedure to be freed from jail not by waging movement.

Nasim said the government is fighting against the abuse of drugs with an iron hand likewise it curbed terrorism and militancy.

Kazipur upazila AL president Shakhawat Hossain, general secretary Khalilur Rahman and upazila parishad vice-chairman Belal Hossain , among others, were present on the occasion.

Later, the minister joined an Iftar party of district administration. District unit AL general secretary Prof Habibe Millat Munna, MP, Selina Begum Swapna, MP, Deputy Commissioner Qamrunnahar Siddiqui and Police Super Miraj Uddin Ahmed, were present on the occasion, among others.
