Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina said on Tuesday her government wants to fulfill the expectations of the young generation about future Bangladesh if it is voted to power again through the upcoming general election, reports UNB.

"We want to fulfill the expectations of our young generation and new voters about Bangladesh," she said while addressing a public rally in Bandarban through videoconferencing from her residence Sudha Sadhan in the city.

Sheikh Hasina, also the Awami League (AL) president, addressed another public rally in Kishoreganj also through videoconferencing from the same place.

Speaking at the Bandarban rally, the PM said her party has a commitment to build a bright future for the young generation and it gave importance to creating job opportunities for them.

"I'm truly very optimistic that our young generation is very talented. They're going forward. They're acquiring knowledge through science and technology," she said.

"I talked to the youth recently to know about their views and expectations," The PM added.

About the CHT Peace Accord signed in 1997, Hasina said a 'suicidal conflict' had started unfortunately after the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975, which continued for some 20 years. "We don't want any conflict, we want peace," she said.

Noting that Bangladesh is now a digital country, she said the mobile network had not been installed in the Chattogram Hill Tracks region in the past, but her government brought the hilly areas under the mobile network coverage. "Now, every person of the CHT region has mobile phone in his/her hand," she said.

Seeking votes for AL's electoral symbol 'Boat', Hasina said when AL forms the government with people's mandate, the country sees huge development and the people get the benefits of this development.

Listing various development activities taken by her government for the CHT region, she said it is bringing the hilly districts under the electricity coverage through solar power.

The Prime Minister said the CHT is not only a naturally rich region, but also abundant with natural resources. "We'll build the CHT as a developed region," she added.

Noting that Bandarban is an excellent land of natural beauty, she said it will be made a role model for development and tourism.

AL candidate for Bandarban constituency Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing and two young voters also spoke at the rally from the Bandarban part.
