PM’s help for two ailing army officers

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday gave financial assistance for the treatment of two officers of Bangladesh Army, reports BSS.

"The prime minister gave donation of Tk 50 lakh for the treatment of Major Jadid from her Relief and Welfare Fund," PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told reporters.

He said Major Jadid's wife Zakiatuzzohra received a cheque for the amount from the prime minister at her office this noon.

Major Jadid was seriously injured in an IED (improvised explosive device) blast in Mali on September 24 while discharging his duty as a United Nations peacekeeper.

He is now undergoing treatment at a hospital in Singapore, the press secretary said.

Sheikh Hasina also handed over a cheque for Tk 30 lakh to Lieutenant Colonel Shaheen Ahmed who has been suffering from liver cirrhosis.
