Police arrest six 'Jamaat-Shibir men' with bombs

KERANIGANJ, Jan 01 (UNB): Six suspected members of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir were arrested with improvised bombs and books on Jihad (religious uprisings) in South Keraniganj on Monday night.

"We suspect they gathered there to carry out subversive activities," said Shah Zaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of South Keraniganj thana.

He said they raided Hasnabad Housing building at night and arrested the six.

The arrestees are Joynul Abedin (52), Md Atiar Rahman hailing from Dhaka's Dohar upazila, Md Tariqul Islam (30) from Satkhira, Md Al Amin (25) from Kurigram's Nageswari upazila, Abu Taher from Cumilla, Md Kamaruzzaman Shamim from Chandpur's Haziganj upazila.
