President pays homage to Bangabandhu today

President Abdul Hamid will travel to Gopalganj's Tungipara today (Monday) to pay tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujubur Rahman at his grave, reports UNB.

The president is scheduled to reach the birthplace of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at noon to pay respect to Father of the Nation and founder of independent Bangladesh, President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told the news agency.

The programme of placing the wreath and praying Fateha was earlier rescheduled from April 26 to May 6.

President Hamid made a unique record in the history of Bangladesh by swearing in as the head of the state for the second consecutive term on April 24. He is the first politician in Bangladesh to get re-elected as president after completion of the first term.
