Pro-AL panel sweeps Dhaka Bar Assoc polls

Awami League-backed lawyers' panel has won a landslide victory in the Dhaka Bar Association elections for the 2019-20 session, bagging 18 posts out of 27, reports UNB.
The AL-backed White panel's Gazi Shah Alam has been elected president and Md Asaduzzaman Khan general secretary.
The pro-BNP/Jamaat Blue panel, however, managed to bag the remaining nine posts.
Mokhlesur Rahman, chief election commissioner of the bar association, announced the results of the two-day elections held on February 27 and March 7, early Saturday.
Of the 12 secretary-level posts, the White panel captured nine leaving three for maybes.
The winning candidates from the White panel are: Md Jahangir Hossain Dulal vice-president, Jahangir Alam Molla senior assistant general secretary, Md Omar Faruk Asif assistant general secretary, Md Jahidul Islam Kadir office secretary, Humayun Khandakar Tagar social welfare secretary and Md Ujjal Mia sports affairs secretary.
From the Blue panel, Afroza Begum Shelley has been elected senior vice-president, Abu Bakar Siddiqui treasurer and Md Shafiqul Islam social welfare affairs secretary.
Among the 15 members' posts, White panel bagged nine and Blue panel got six.
