Probe begins on Ekramul's killing: Kamal

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said on Sund a probe team led by a magistrate started investigating the recent killing of former president of Teknaf Upazila Juba League and ward councillor Ekramul Haque, reports BSS.

"The ministry received the audio recordings of the killing of municipal councilor Ekramul Huq," he told newsmen after an anti-drug rally on Stamford University campus at Siddheswari in the city.

Stamford University Vice-Chancellor Muhammad Ali Noki presided over the rally.

The minister said the anti-drug drive would be continued until drug abuse is controlled.

He said a list of drug peddlers was prepared by different law enforcement agencies and the drive against drug abuse was being conducted by law enforcement agencies to eliminate the menace from the country.

The government is also working to build awareness among common people about drug abuse across the country.

Besides, he said, public representatives, teachers, representatives of professional bodies, imams of mosques and other section of people are also working in this regard, he added.

Kamal urged all sections of people including students to come forward for building awareness against drug abuse in the country.
