Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq said on Sunday the government has initiated the process to bring back fugitive Tarique Rahman, reports BSS.

"The government is very much active to bring back fugitive convicts and execute verdicts against them. We will take initiatives to put the cases of crimes against humanity on Appellate Division cause list," he said.

Anisul Huq said these while talking to newsmen after addressing the 38th foundation course for Assistant Judges at Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) in the capital.

The minister also urged the judges to inspire justice seekers to Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), adding, "They will take it seriously if you can make them understand."

"The developed countries always advice people for ADR and that's why ninety percent of cases are resolved out of the courtroom, lessening the pressure on judiciary," Anisul said.

The minister said the role of the judges is most important in establishing rule of law in the country.

"The contribution of quality judiciary for rule of law, financial development, strengthening democracy and poverty eradication is undeniable.

So, the government is providing all kinds of cooperation to judiciary so that it can present people a quality service," Anisul added.

Presided over by JATI Director General Justice Khondker Musa Khaled, the programme was also addressed by Law and Justice Division Secretary Abu Saleh Sheikh Md Zahirul Haque.
