S Korean premier pays tributes to '71 martyrs

He visits Bangabandhu Museum today

SAVAR, July 14 (UNB): South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon paid tributes to the memories of Liberation War martyrs by placing wreaths at the National Mausoleum on Sunday morning.

After placing the wreath, the Korean Prime Minister stood in solemn silence for some time paying deep respects to the memories of the martyrs.

A smartly turned out contingent drawn from army, navy and air force presented a guard of honour to him.

Later, Prime Minister Lee signed the visitors' book and planted a sapling.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury and State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman received the Korean PM upon his arrival at the National Mausoleum.

The Korean Prime Minister visited Youngone Hi-tech Sportswear in Savar EPZ and the National Institute of Advanced Nursing Education and Research at Mugdapara in the city.

Today (Monday), he will pay homage to the memories of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths on his portrait at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the city.

Lee, now on a three-day official visit, will sign visitors' book there after visiting the museum.

The South Korean Prime Minister is scheduled to leave Dhaka at 11am today.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen will see the Korean Prime Minister off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The South Korean Prime Minister will now visit Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Qatar as part of his four-nation tour from July 13-21.

The visits are aimed at strengthening Seoul's ties with Central Asia and Southwest Asia with a balanced diplomacy in the Middle East.
